South of France
The South of France is classed as having some of the most beautiful and most authentic wilderness scenery in Europe. On both sides of the generously fertile Rhône Valley, alternate in view : hills with jagged tortuous rivers; lush thicket and back-country covering vast highlands; countless vineyards and lavender fields; typical villages and hamlets beckon to be discovered. The climate and cuisine of Provence are as proverbially famous as the beaches of the Côte d’Azur !
For around one hour to one and ½ hour’s drive to the coast, and only a few kilometres westward of the Rhône, one rarely feels submerged by the crowds in this magnificent unspoilt countryside as beautiful as southern Provence, and far from the hustle and bustle of the Côte d’Azur.
